California Proposition 65 Statement

Why are some products marked with California Proposition 65 warnings?

California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, better known as Proposition 65, requires that businesses provide warnings to Californians about potential exposure to chemicals or substances that may cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.  These chemicals can be in the products that Californians purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment

Proposition 65 requires the state of California to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. This list, which must be updated at least once a year, has grown to include approximately 900 chemicals since it was first published in 1987.

Items that we, or our suppliers, believe to contain a chemical(s) that is on the Proposition 65 list will contain a warning.  This warning does not imply the product is unsafe, but rather is provided to allow the consumer to make informed decisions regarding their purchase and their exposures to these chemicals.

Products that require a Proposition 65 warning will be marked as required by law.
